To each his/her own preferences… or habits.
As for me, I practised Reiki in silence for many years without thinking twice about it until the idea of a Reiki Gong Timer arose. Then I had to admit that, more often than not, my eyes had reached up to the clock to have an idea of how long my hands had been in a certain position. Indeed when there are no particular sensations under your hands, two or three minutes in a position is long enough and so, I looked at the clock.
Now with the Reiki Gong Timer, a lovely chime sounds every 3 minutes in my consulting room. I am finally free from the clock, but more important, I realize today that I am more attentive to the sensations under my hands. Of course, I don’t necessarily follow the rhythm of the timer. There are times when I stay longer in a certain position which requires it. But still, the regular chiming gives me an idea of how long I spend in each place and then I notice more clearly where the energy may be blocked or too concentrated.
And the icing on the cake is that my patients love the sounds of the various chimes, the shape of the pyramid and the Japanese Reiki character. Actually some of them have bought a Reiki Gong Timer for themselves.
I know that some of my colleagues prefer to practise with CDs of nature sounds – ocean waves or wind in tree leaves – rather than in silence or even accompanied by gong chimes. But they will be delighted to hear that the Reiki AUDIO Gong Timer has an SD input that enables one to fit in a micro-SD card where sound-tracks have been recorded. Then they will no longer need to have a hi-fi equipment in their practice room. Even more freedom!
